Ponsse invests in renewable energy

Renewable energy wood and small-dimensioned wood harvesting volumes are
increasing on a global level, with the growth targets of the energy industry
creating great challenges for the forest industry. In the future, we foresee the
energy wood industry playing a major role in the wood harvesting sector, and
thus it will be a significant addition to Ponsse's business operations.
Therefore, the development of efficient solutions for our customers in this
sector will be a strong focus area for Ponsse in the future.

Hannu Airavaara, (61), Engineer, has been invited to take up the role of Ponsse
Oyj's Development Director. He will be responsible for developing renewable
energy and small-dimensioned wood harvesting technology. Mr. Airavaara has
considerable experience in wood harvesting development tasks in the Finnish
forest industry, and his influence in the development of the industry is
significant. Mr. Airavaara will transfer to Ponsse from UPM-Kymmene Oyj where he
worked as Resources Manager of wood procurement logistics. He will assume his
new position on 1 January 2007, and he will report to Seppo Taatila, Director of
Technology and Engineering.

industry does not have any established solutions for wood harvesting, and we
want to participate in developing these methods in cooperation with our
