PONSSE PLC PRESS RELEASE 3. JUNE 2009 AT 10:00 A.M.
Elmia Wood 3.-6.6.2009 Jönköping, Sweden The Ponsse cut-to-length product range complemented with new machines and product solutions Throughout its history, Ponsse has been involved in the development of harvesting based on the Nordic cut-to-length method. The method is the most advanced and the most effective wood harvesting method, and its environmental impact is clearly lower than that of the competing tree-length method. This year Ponsse comes out with new solutions thru whole product range. New PONSSE Fox harvester - meet the challenger Responding to current harvesting challenges, Ponsse is launching a whole new type of thinning harvester. The new PONSSE Fox harvester combines profitable harvesting solutions and Ponsse's latest software technology. The all new crane PONSSE C22 is reachable, powerful and easy to use thanks to its hydraulic tracking feature. The eleven-metre reach, easy manoeuvrability and two slewing motors make working with the machine very effective. The crane has been placed close to the cabin to improve visibility. Due to its eight wheels, PONSSE Fox is stable and enables comfortable work also on sloping terrain. The surface pressure generated by the eight-wheel machine is very low, making the new harvester excellent for also felling sites where the soil is soft. PONSSE Ergo 8w - Optimal harvesting for variable sites with top class ergonomics A very effective and ergonomic harvester, PONSSE Ergo has achieved a stable position in the sector. The effective and economical Mercedes-Benz engine, the two-circuit hydraulics system, the sturdy structure that is easy to maintain and best ergonomic features guarantee that PONSSE Ergo will remain the most effective higher middle class harvester on the market. For now on, PONSSE Ergo will also be available as an eight-wheel version (PONSSE Ergo 8w), offering effective features, especially for sloping sites and otherwise demanding sites. The machine can be equipped with balanced bogies for achieving an excellent hill climbing capacity. The surface pressure generated by the machine is lower than a six-wheel machine, ensuring better carrying capacity on soft soil. PONSSE harvester heads - the product family grows The new PONSSE H6 harvester head is highly applicable to versatile use, ranging from thinning sites with small trees to regeneration felling. The large opening range and accurate control features make work easy, and the extensive tilt movement range combined with the fast and powerful feeding and sawing system make the H6 harvester head a highly profitable machine for all sites. The PONSSE H6 can also be equipped with the multi-stemming feature, which makes harvesting of small woods faster and clearly improves profitability. The feature can be implemented using a simple software logic. Possibility for standard harvester head multi-stemming with new software logic The feature is based on the use of the delimbing knives and feed rollers: when the machine grips a new trunk, the rollers hold the trunk in place in the harvester head and the knives grip a new tree. After this, the rollers automatically open and close, and the new trunk is cut. All collecting features can be controlled by the push of a single button. The multi-stemming feature is available as a software update for Opti4G versions 4.602 and 4.700. The software-based logic does not require any additional investments apart from the software update expenses, and the logics will not influence regular industrial wood felling features. Multi-stemming with articulated rear delimbing knives A multi-stemming feature based on articulated rear delimbing knives is available for the PONSSE H53e and H7 harvester heads. The articulated rear delimbing knives enable the collection of several trunks with the harvester head before felling - and delimbing and cutting, if necessary - the bundle. The multi-stemming function has been developed so that it will not debilitate the harvester head features in normal work, i.e. when handling single trunks. PONSSE Buffalo ADS - Active damping system for PONSSE Buffalo forwarder Ponsse's unique patented active damping system effectively eliminates vibration caused by uneven terrain and keeps the cabin in a vertical position. The system enables the fast movements of the 6WD machine and offers the operator excellent working conditions by minimising any swinging movement of the cabin. The system's stabilisation point is as low on the swinging front axle as possible in order to effectively minimise the cabin's sideways movements on uneven terrain. Combined with the correctly placed stabilisation point, the intelligent damping system increases the ergonomics of the PONSSE Buffalo 6WD to a level unattainable by regular cabin suspension systems.
