PONSSE INTRODUCES ITS PRODUCT LINE 2012

Ponsse will introduce its new 2012 product line at FinnMETKO 2012 fair in Jämsä, Finland. There will be a comprehensive selection of new PONSSE forest machine technology for the leading professionals in the forest machine sector.

PONSSE forest machines have been upgraded in many ways in 2012. With the new Euromot 3B/Tier 4i motors in six-cylinder models, the machines are more environmentally sound, efficient and consume less fuel. PONSSE forest machines' SCR post-treatment system yields an optimal efficiency and economical torsion from the motor. In the SCR method, air and a mix of water and urea (DEF) is sprayed in the exhaust gas. The mix breaks down nitrogen oxides in the gas into harmless nitrogen and water vapour. Motor performance can be optimised when motor emissions are handled by a separate exhaust gas post-processing system.

The upgrade pays extra attention to machine maintainability and driver comfort. Almost all machine models now have firmer, simpler and more maintenance-friendly frames. Driver ergonomics also take a big leap through the new PONSSE Comfort user interface designed with drivers. Fully upgraded, ergonomic control handles, and switch consoles improve driver ergonomics and thus make work more productive.

As a result of the 2012 product line, H series harvester head selection has a new SKF chain grease system, a turning oil tank, cast back delimbing knives, and back knife cylinders inside the frame. All standard PONSSE harvester heads are suitable for multi-stemming either as such or with minor optional equipment.

The new and effective PONSSE Opti6 is a forest machine PC for tough conditions. The simple and compact PC is integrated inside a screen unit. A touch screen makes for easier and faster use of applications. The latest software version is Opti 4.715, with a more advanced, automatically adjusted cut-to-size run function, new reporting features and improved maintenance and adjustment functions.

For the first time in Finland, Ponsse will also introduce our largest new machine models at FinnMETKO: The eight-wheel PONSSE Bear harvester with a new C6 sliding boom crane and the massive PONSSE ElephantKing forwarder with 20 tonnes of carrying capacity, 24 tonnes of traction power and a load space of 6.25 m².

PONSSE Fleet Management is a web application the entrepreneur can use to manage field operations. The system is for real time monitoring of forest machine location, scheduling machine maintenance and platform transport, and reporting maintenance needs informed by operators. Fleet Management application is available from the beginning of 2013.

Economical driving is a forest machine app which provides the driver with easy-to-understand, easy-to-use info about machine use. Via the machine's control system, it monitors machine load and motor consumption for each function and indicates in real time whether the driver's working methods and machine adjustments are economical and efficient. Economical driving is available for new PONSSE forwarders in 2013.

Versatility is key in new forwarders

PONSSE 10w is an efficient and reliable solution enabling productive harvesting on soil with poor bearing capacity – preserving the terrain and environment all year round. The robust drive of the new PONSSE 10w is based on the attachment axle's hydraulic

lifting and pressing. With the hydraulics, the axle is pressed down when the terrain is soft, and lifted back up on hard ground. This results in maximum bearability on surfaces with the poorest bearability and when on hard ground, the agility is better and the back frame and axles are protected against excess strain. The hydraulic system is available for the PONSSE Buffalo forwarder.

Flexibility in raw and fuel wood harvesting is provided by mechanically or hydraulically changing load spaces. When load space increases, machine capacity and bearability can be better used. The hydraulically modifiable space is controlled directly from the cabin while working. With PONSSE VLA carrier plates, raw wood, fuel wood and stumps are effectively transported using the same machine.
