PONSSE Scorpion Thin Line gains popularity in Finland

Production of the new PONSSE Thin Line forest machine models has begun at the Vieremä factory. Tailored to customer needs, the agile and efficient Ponsse Scorpion Thin Line has been very well received in the Finnish market.

In early autumn, Ponsse introduced the Ponsse Scorpion Thin Line and Wisent Thin Line forest machine models, specifically optimised for thinning operations.

“Thinning operations require agility and the ability to work efficiently at logging sites with limited space. The Scorpion Thin Line is slightly narrower and optimised specifically for these requirements. In Finland, the new model has generated a great deal of interest among our customers,” says Jani Liukkonen, Country Manager, Ponsse Finland.

A choice that meets customer needs

Veljekset Lukkarinen Oy, based in Varpaisjärvi, was among the first customers to purchase the new model. The company’s Scorpion Thin Line, equipped with the new PONSSE H6 harvester head, was completed at the Vieremä factory in early November.

“We were particularly interested in an efficient machine designed for thinning operations, with settings optimised specifically for this type of work. We have a lot of thinning operations coming up this winter, for which both efficiency and high-quality work are essential. A high-quality harvesting result in thinning operations is important to us because it helps ensure the continuity of our business. The slightly lower machine weight is also an advantage in soft conditions. And of course, the new black colour scheme was a nice bonus,” says foreman Mika Lukkarinen of Veljekset Lukkarinen Oy.

“Through our machine choices, we also want to show forest owners that high-quality harvesting results in thinning operations are important to us. By investing in solutions specifically designed and optimised for thinning operations, we want to demonstrate our commitment to high-quality harvesting,” Lukkarinen continues.

Founded in 1986 and celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the company currently employs approximately 40 people. Veljekset Lukkarinen Oy operates 11 machine chains in the North Savo region, one of which is operated by a subcontractor.

The most efficient harvester on the market optimised for thinning operations

The Scorpion Thin Line features settings optimised for thinning operations, making work productive, cost-efficient and operator-friendly in all conditions. The model is based on the well-known Scorpion harvester, which features a unique patented cabin leveling and stabilization system, premium ergonomics and excellent performance, and the best visibility on the market. Settings optimised for thinning operations reduce fuel consumption, while the machine's low ground pressure makes it an excellent choice for harvesting on soft soils.

The Scorpion’s highly effective work area lighting provides excellent conditions for precise and safe operation around the clock. The powerful crane combines long reach with precise controllability. The Active Crane system further simplifies crane operation, enabling smoother work and higher productivity.

Operator comfort is enhanced by the ergonomic cabin, with the operator truly at the center of the work. The overall package is complemented by an upgraded audio system and a renewed, modern design.

The Ponsse Scorpion Thin Line is available with the PONSSE H5 and the new PONSSE H6 harvester heads, delivering excellent performance in demanding thinning operations.
