At FinnMetko, we will be showcasing several innovations and service solutions across forest machines, digital services and maintenance. In Jämsä, visitors will also have the opportunity to see one of our latest innovations, the PONSSE Buffalo Planter, which marks a new step from harvesting technology into the area of forest regeneration solutions,” says Marko Mattila, Chief Sales, Service and Marketing Officer at Ponsse.

Ponsse’s product launches at FinnMetko

The new PONSSE Bison forwarder

The new Bison forwarder features a lighter structure than before, making it easier to manoeuvre across a wide range of harvesting sites. Thanks to its continuously variable transmission, the forwarder moves smoothly, enhancing both productivity and driving comfort. Due to the optimal gear ratio, higher driving speeds do not increase fuel consumption at the same rate as a conventional transmission. An optional additional fuel tank is available for the new Bison, extending active operating time. The optional Active Cabin suspension system enhances operator comfort, especially in demanding conditions.

The new PONSSE H6 harvester head

From thinning to final felling, the new H6 is a versatile, high-performance solution. Reflecting the design philosophy of the H7 and H8 models which have been upgraded in recent years, the new H6 features structural solutions that support high uptime, productivity and ease of maintenance.

The harvester head offers improved length measurement accuracy, thanks to a new measuring wheel. The connection hoses have been relocated to the front of the valve block, improving their durability and extending their service life. The redesigned saw box prevents snow and ice accumulation, minimising downtime in winter conditions. For selected harvester models, the H6 is available with the HH360 rotator, which removes hose-related restrictions and allows continuous 360-degree rotation of the harvester head.

The PONSSE Opti 5G now also available for forwarders

The Opti 5G information system brings the same user-friendly modern experience to forwarders as that in harvesters. A unified user interface across both harvesters and forwarders makes machine operation intuitive, reducing the risk of errors in everyday work. The Opti 5G system is also available as a retrofit.

Combined with the PONSSE Manager Pro, the Opti 5G enables real-time situational picture sharing between forest machines, streamlining harvesting planning, monitoring and management throughout the harvesting chain.

Basic logging site data, production volumes and map routes transfer automatically from the harvester to the forwarder, providing up-to-date work progress visibility both in the cabin and at the office via Manager Pro. This boosts productivity, reduces manual data handling and supports real-time decision-making on site and in the office. It also contributes to lower fuel consumption. In particular, automatic situational picture sharing makes the forwarder operator’s work easier and more efficient.

The PONSSE Connectivity Ready Satellite improves data transfer connections

An optional feature is available for Ponsse harvesters equipped with the Opti 5G information system, enabling direct installation of a satellite antenna on the machine. With the Connectivity Ready Satellite, the machine can connect to the network even in areas where mobile network coverage is unavailable. This solution enhances data transfer flexibility, ensuring reliable connectivity in demanding conditions.

The Connectivity Ready Satellite is available as an option for all Ponsse harvesters equipped with the Opti 5G information system and can be ordered through Ponsse service centres. The solution includes the necessary mounting and cabling capabilities, as well as antenna protection. The satellite antenna hardware and subscription are purchased separately from the chosen service provider. With the Connectivity Ready Satellite, valuable machine data is accessible in the PONSSE Manager service.

PONSSE Active Flow enables productive and efficient operations at lower engine speeds

Active Flow is a harvester solution designed to optimise the use of machine hydraulics. It allows operating at lower engine speeds, enhances crane performance without additional fuel consumption and uses hydraulic capacity more efficiently. The result is smooth and powerful crane control with reduced fuel consumption, especially on thinning sites.

Other product launches

Featured at our FinnMetko stand: the PONSSE Buffalo Planter automates planting operations

The Buffalo Planter combines spot tillage, planting, watering and soil compaction into a single seamless process. Including tillage, the planting capacity is around 750 seedlings per hour. However, planting efficiency is not measured by volume alone, as planting quality is equally important. The Buffalo Planter is designed to pause briefly at each planting spot, ensuring the correct planting depth, precise seedling placement, proper compaction, accurate watering and consistent spacing between plants. The product’s benefits are best realised on eucalyptus plantations.

Proactive care with the PONSSE Maintenance Call service

When a forest machine approaches its scheduled service interval, the notification is automatically transmitted from the machine to Ponsse customer service. The Ponsse service team contacts the owner of the machine to schedule the service and arrange any additional maintenance tasks in a single visit. The necessary spare parts and resources can be prepared well in advance, ensuring smooth and efficient servicing. The service helps reduce unplanned downtime and extra maintenance visits, while supporting high machine uptime. It is available for machines covered by a Ponsse service agreement and equipped with a Connectivity Unit.

The PONSSE HH360 rotator streamlines stem handling and speeds up harvesting

The HH360 rotator is now available for Ponsse harvesters, enabling unrestricted rotation of the harvester head. Thanks to this solution, the hoses running from the crane to the harvester head remain in a fixed position, extending service life and improving the durability of connection hoses. The freely rotating harvester head streamlines stem handling, speeds up operations and makes the operator’s work easier. The rotator is suitable for fixed-cabin harvesters without stump treatment equipment.

Simulator product family upgraded

Ponsse has upgraded its simulator range to meet the demanding requirements of modern training. Customer freedom is at the heart of the new lineup: the simulator can be tailored precisely to the needs of both the training environment and the user. VR headsets deliver a more immersive training experience, while controls identical to those in real forest machines bring authenticity to the user experience. This ensures that the operating methods learned are transferred directly to practical work.

Adopting simulator technology has also been made easy for procurement models. Versatile financing and rental options allow the equipment to be used without major upfront investments, and renting offers flexibility for short-term training projects or seasonal demands, for example.

PONSSE Manager Pro compiles data into reports and map views

Manager Pro is designed for harvesting companies seeking to make broader use of machine data in operations management, planning and reporting. The service gathers site and machine status data in a map view and reports, providing a real-time visual overview of work progress.

Map-based tools facilitate planning, monitoring and overall management on sites with multiple machines. Manager Pro also includes emissions reporting, enabling reliable monitoring of machines’ environmental impacts as part of sustainable business operations. In addition, the new calibration report provides visibility for monitoring and maintaining measuring device accuracy.

Ponsse optimises two popular forest machine models for thinning operations

The PONSSE Wisent Thin Line is a 10-tonne load capacity forwarder designed for thinning sites. The optimised load space facilitates operating, making the machine an agile choice for first thinnings and other thinning sites. A lighter overall weight and lower ground pressure improve suitability for timber harvesting on soft terrain. The forwarder’s lights have also been upgraded based on customer feedback.

The PONSSE Scorpion Thin Line is based on the well-known Scorpion harvester, whose strengths include excellent working area visibility, stable operation, and good crane reach and control. In the Thin Line version, the machine adjustments have been optimised for thinning to ensure the best possible fuel economy. The PONSSE H5 and the new H6 harvester head are available for the Scorpion Thin Line harvester.

The new PONSSE Thin Line machines also feature an upgraded audio sound system and a new colour scheme.

Discover the Cabin Vision concept!

Developed under the leadership of Ponsse’s technology company Epec, the newly released Cabin Vision concept opens up an entirely new development platform for future machinery cabins. This is a technological test environment for assessing user interfaces, automation and ergonomics, and for forming a view of what an operator’s work could be like in the 2030s. The concept cabin is on display at the Ponsse stand at FinnMetko.
