Ponsse voted the best medium-sized company

Finnish private investors have elected Ponsse the best medium-sized company listed in Nasdaq Helsinki. In the “Yksityissijoittajan valinta” (Private Investors’ Choice) competition, small-scale investors voted for Finland’s most reliable and attractive listed companies.

Ponsse was voted the winner on the list for medium-sized companies. Private investors thanked Ponsse for its expert management and its use of the traditional production area. Its role as a significant employer was also an advantage. Ponsse was described as a loyal and innovative regional family-owned company from Vieremä.

In the competition organised by the Finnish Foundation for Share Promotion, Kreab and Messukeskus, favourite companies among private investors in 2019 were Kone, Ponsse, Marimekko and Verkkokauppa.com, like in the previous year. At the Sijoitus Invest event in Helsinki, awards were given by Matti Vanhanen, the Speaker of the Finnish Parliament. Mammu Kaario, vice chairman of Ponsse’s Board of Directors, accepted Ponsse’s award.

The purpose of the competition is to strengthen the appreciation of small-scale investors by showcasing companies that have attracted the attention of private investors and deserve thanks for their communication and service-mindedness. In the competition, companies are evaluated on the basis of the best corporate image, attractiveness among investors, reliable investor communication and productive annual meetings.

Private investors appreciate presence

Sari Lounasmeri, CEO of the Finnish Foundation for Share Promotion, says that private investors emphasise, year-on-year, the importance of open and clear communication, presence and face-to-face meetings.

According to the competition organisers, the values of private investors have remained fairly unchanged from previous years. Private investors appreciate well-known companies that reliably produce dividends. “What the most attractive listed companies in Finland have in common are the level of innovation, a well-functioning and open management, world-class expertise, reliability, and good and clear communication.”

“Based on the responses, we can once again say that private investors appreciate open and active investor communication. Good investor communication provides companies with visibility and builds confidence and commitment among customers, employees and stakeholders,” says Lauri Hyppölä, senior communication consultant at Kreab.
