Solutions to be used in combined industrial and energy wood harvesting
The PONSSE Fox and PONSSE Wisent, equipped with suitable accessories, offer a solution to be used in combined industrial and energy wood harvesting. The machine chain could consist of the agile Fox harvester equipped with a mass-handling H6 harvester head and a Wisent 10-w forwarder equipped with LoadOptimizer load scales. Another good alternative is a PONSSE Dual combination machine which is able to handle all harvesting measures. In case of restoration of a young forest where only non-delimbed whole trees will be harvested, a PONSSE EH25 energy wood grapple, a mass-treatment grapple equipped with a cutting edge, could also be used. Trees felled as single trees are normally measured using the measuring device of the harvester. Delimbed and non-delimbed mass-treated timber is measured using load scales if the harvester is unloaded at the warehouse. The measuring parties have always agreed on the conversion coefficients to be used if converting tons into cubic metres is necessary. If a large number of non-delimbed whole trees are harvested or the machine is used to transport a large number of branches, the forwarder's load space may be modifiable. This will clearly increase the transportation capacity.
The 10-wheel forwarder previously launched by Ponsse and the new modifiable load spaces are excellent in the described harvesting chain. All harvesting sites are also included in forestry scope as comes to transportation, and forest transport can be effectively organised for all industrial and energy wood types.
