Tero Pitkämäki in second place in Kuortane javelin event
Antti Ruuskanen surprisingly snatched the first prize in a javelin event at Kuortane. With his last throw, Ruuskanen reached 87.33, and beat world champion Tero Pitkämäki by 44 centimetres. Ruuskanen, 24, improved his own record by over three metres. Pitkämäki threw his longest arc of 86.29 in the first round of the event.The first event of the season was at a high level because Tero Järvenpää took third place with a throw of 85.88. Ruuskanen’s arc is the best result of the season in Finland, and third in the global scores. Pitkämäki, on the other hand, threw his javelin into fourth place globally.
