Hirvonen enjoys his performance in the Rally of Uusikaupunki
Mikko Hirvonen drove into second position in the Tommi Mäkinen Racing team’s Subaru 2006 in Group N at the Rally of Uusikaupunki, which is a race in the Finnish Championship series. Hirvonen enjoyed his drive in the race and was satisfied with the result.
”This was a fun weekend and it was nice to see old faces after a long time. The race went better than expected and I was happy to be able to match the pace of the others,” says Hirvonen.
The new Subaru performed as expected and Hirvonen could have even driven faster:
”The car worked well and I could have gone faster if I’d had more time to get familiar with a Group N car. The car really has potential. It has strength and it is easy and good to drive,” says Hirvonen.
Jukka Ketomäki was the fastest in the Subaru Challenge series. The maximum 12 points keeps Ketomäki in the battle for the series. Everything is still possible in the series because all drivers are within 10 points of each other. The second-place finisher in Uusikaupunki, Teemu Arminen, leads the series with 56 championship points. He leads from the second-place driver in the championship and this weekend’s third-place finisher, Petri Lehtovirta, by four points. Teemu Laatunen and Hirvonen have 46 points. Laatunen had to finish the race early in Uusikaupunki due to gear box problems.
The final Subaru Challenge race will take place in Hyvinkää on 1-2 October.
